Reimagining what it means to age
Who We Are
We are certified yoga practitioners committed to delivering high-quality holistic yoga tailored to supporting healthy aging at retirement communities. We focus on solving unmet needs of both the residents and the community staff to improve outcomes for older adults and enrich the communities they call home.
The Why
Aging is a journey for everyone
Globally, the 55+ community is one of the fastest-growing demographics, yet there is often insufficient focus on addressing the holistic health needs including the mental, physical and social determinants of health of this population. Healthcare can be inaccessible and fragmented.
It’s time to view individuals in their entirety to bring vitality to aging. Woven Wellness programming is based in the science of healthy aging and the knowledge through clinical counseling that health is holistic, incorporating the mind, the body and the environment and community. Purpose and a sense of belonging become increasingly important as we age. After leaving the workforce, or encountering other life transitions, many experience a loss of social connection, making it essential to foster supportive environments.
Our vision is to facilitate a healthy and proactive transition into new phases of life. Rather than waiting for challenges to arise, We empower individuals with the tools they need to enhance their health and fitness outside of medical settings. Through yoga, mental health and community, we can promote longevity and well-being as we age and reduce reliance on and the financial burden of medical services.
Our Mission
To inspire community connection among older adults through holistic programs that integrate mental, physical, and social elements of wellness. We strive to create supportive environments that foster overall well-being, meaningful connections, and lifelong learning, empowering every senior to thrive and actively engage in their community.
The Woven Story
Holistic Solutions Starting at Home
Woven Wellness was founded in 2023 by Heather Gilbert, a yoga and mental health provider dedicated to supporting older adults through holistic practices. Heather’s passion for this work was inspired by her grandmother, Nonna, who struggled with arthritis and chronic pain. Watching Nonna face the challenges of aging, Heather recognized the need for alternative health solutions to help older adults maintain strength, mobility, and emotional well-being.
As a certified RYT 200-hour yoga teacher with specialized training in mental health, wellness, and trauma-informed yoga, Heather blends various techniques and philosophies to create individualized, therapeutic programs. Through Woven Wellness, she empowers older adults to connect mind and body, build resilience, and navigate the aging process with balance and grace.
Degrees and Certifications
-
Clinical counseling views mental health through the lens of life-long development. I am specializing my education to work with older adults on challenges that come with aging including: life transitions, grief and loss, changing family and social roles, health and pain. My expected graduation is Spring 2026.
-
I researched climate change impact on ecological systems and species survival. This research background guides my scientific approach to yoga. My focus on systems also informs my perspective on the role of environment on the mental and physical health of residents.
-
I come from the right-handed Tantric tradition that combines Hatha, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Laya Yoga. This type of yoga is for householders and is suited for integration into the demands of daily life.
-
This is a 50-hour training focused on how western scientific understanding in neuroscience and psychology overlaps with ancient principles and techniques.
-
This 50-Hour training informs my approach of adapting all aspects of yoga practice to the individual needs of my students based on their histories, present state and their goals.
